PRIVATE. Keep Out.

Our friend Alex recently forwarded us an article by Tim Keller. I don’t know much about Keller other than that he is a minister here in NYC, but I do know Alex. He is the sort of guy who says incredibly wise, practical things and then looks at you like “Isn’t it so obvious?” and it is obvious (but only because Alex has bothered to point it out to you).
One part in particular, struck me. Keller wrote “…some people simply have temperaments that highly value individual freedom and autonomy. Disproportionate numbers of these people are attracted to a place like New York City. Here they can construct their own lives and lifestyles free from the constraints and expectations put on them in most of the rest of the world. A high percentage of such people make an emotional-psychological idol of personal freedom. They feel simply stifled by the loss of freedom that marriage will mean.”
I read it. I gave it some thought. I concluded that Tim Keller has been reading my diary.
